January

Fu Chengyu, President of CNOOC, received the honor of one of the Top 10 Energy and Chemical Industry Leaders in 30 Years of Reform and Opening-up released by China Economic Weekly.

March

CNOOC Ltd. ranked 246 in the "Forbes Global 2000" by Forbes.

April

CNOOC was awarded the title of "2008 China Green Star Benchmark Company" jointly presented by the China Entrepreneurs Club, the Daonong Enterprise Institute and the Green Herald Magazine.

CNOOC Ltd. was awarded the "Best Chinese Company" in the "Corporate Governance Asia Recognition Awards" by Corporate Governance Asia.

May

The reconstruction project of a surgery inpatient building of Guangyuan City No.1 People’s Hospital, one of CNOOC’s aid projects, was named as a "Disaster Relief Sustainable Development Project".

July

CNOOC received the awards of "2008 Most Competitive Tendering Agent in China" and the "2008 Most Competitive Tendering Agent in the Oil Refining and Petrochemical Industry". The Fortune Magazine released the list of Global 500 2009, in which CNOOC ranked 318, advancing on its last ranking of 409. State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission (SASAC) of the State Council released the list of Central State-owned Enterprise (SOEs) with Grade A in performance for 2008, CNOOC winning Grade A for the fifth consecutive year.

CNOOC received the honor of "CCTV 60 Years-60 Brands".

September

CNOOC ranked 17 in "2009 China Top 500 Companies" list.

October

CNOOC Ltd. ranked 16 in "2009 Global Champions Top 40" list.

November

CNOOC Ltd. ranked 21 in Platts Top 250 Global Energy Companies and ranked 2 in Global Exploration & Development Companies. CNOOC was awarded the "Hope Project 20 Years Contribution Award" by the Communist Youth League Central Committee and the China Youth Development Foundation.

December

CNOOC Ltd. was selected as one of the "2009 Top 10 Most Competitive Overseas Listed Companies in China" by the Institute of Industrial Economics of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. CNOOC was selected as one of the "60 Most Influential Brands of Top 100 Chinese Economic Talents".
