AEGON-CNOOC Life Insurance Co., Ltd.
AEGON-CNOOC Life Insurance Co., Ltd. is a joint venture originally established in May 2002. CNOOC and Aegon jointly own the company, each holding 50 percent. In May 2003, the company officially received a license to begin life insurance activities in China. Headquartered in Shanghai, AEGON-CNOOC has a registered capital of RMB 1.2 billion.
After taking root in Shanghai, Beijing, Jiangsu, Shandong, Zhejiang, Guangdong and Tianjin, the company opened up new markets in Qingdao and Hebei in 2009. 51 products were put onto the market during the year, including 15 new products. On December 3 2009, AEGON-CNOOC unveiled a new company logo "perfect team", which combines the red of CNOOC, one of China's largest energy companies with a strong credit rating, and the blue of AEGON, a Dutch global life insurance group with over 160 years of industry-leading experience. AEGON-CNOOC also announced that it had appointed Lang Lang, one of the world's best known classical pianists, as its brand ambassador.
In 2010, Aegon-CNOOC further expanded its business regions and launched 10 new products and product portfolios, further meeting the needs of consumers, and realized a premium income of RMB1.72 billion during the year.
