Born in 1961, Mr. Yang Hua graduated from China University of Petroleum with a Bachelor of Science degree in Petroleum Engineering. He also received an MBA degree from the Sloan School of Management at MIT as a Sloan Fellow. Mr. Yang joined CNOOC in 1982 and has nearly 30 years' experience in petroleum exploration and production. From 1982 to 1992, Mr. Yang served in a number of positions in the CNOOC Research Center including Manager of Reservoir Engineering Department and Director of Field Development Department. From 1993 to 1999, he served as Deputy Chief Geologist and Deputy Director for the Overseas Development Department of CNOOC and Vice President of CNOOC Overseas Oil and Natural Gas Limited. In 1999, he was a Senior Vice President of CNOOC Limited and became an Executive Vice President of CNOOC Limited in October 2005. From 2002 to 2003, he was President of CNOOC Southeast Asia Limited, a subsidiary of CNOOC Limited. He served as President of CNOOC International Limited from 2004 to 2005 and was appointed as Chief Financial Officer of CNOOC Limited in January 2005. From November 2006 to March 2010, Mr. Yang served as an Assistant President of CNOOC. In February 2009, he was appointed as President of CNOOC Limited. In May 2010, Mr. Yang was appointed as a Vice President and Party Leadership Group Member of CNOOC. In September 2010, Mr. Yang was appointed as Chief Executive Officer and Vice Chairman of CNOOC Limited. In August 2011, Mr. Yang was appointed as President of CNOOC.
