Born in 1956, Mr. Zhu Weilin graduated from Shanghai Tongji University with a Doctor’s degree and later studied in Norwegian Institute of Technology, majoring in Oil Exploration. Mr. Zhu joined CNOOC in 1982. Prior to 1999, he engaged in research work at CNOOC Research Center and served as Deputy Director and then Director of Research, and Deputy Chief Geologist and Chief Geologist of CNOOC Research Center. Since 1999, he served as Deputy Manager of Exploration Department of CNOOC, Deputy General Manager and General Manager of the Exploration Department of CNOOC Limited, General Manager of CNOOC (China) Limited-Zhanjiang Branch and a Vice President of CNOOC Limited. In August 2007, he was appointed as Chief Geologist of CNOOC and an Executive Vice President of CNOOC Limited.

Mr. Zhu has been granted special subsidies from the Chinese government, has been included in the “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project” and was named as a National Excellent Science and Technology Worker of the Nation. He also received the Li Siguang Award for Geosciences.
