China National Offshore Oil Corporation ("CNOOC" or "We") and its certain subsidiaries have recently been informed by some international law firms that certain unidentified people usurp the name of CNOOC and/or its subsidiaries to request legal services therefrom via email and/or fax ("Fraudulence") which we affirmatively believe have severely infringed upon the legitimate rights and interests of CNOOC and/or its subsidiaries and made trouble and inconvenience for such law firms. All the rights to investigate and take legal actions against such Fraudulence are reserved. We hereby issue this solemn statement as follows:
