In 2008, CNOOC and Sichuan Government settled that the main task for the first phase was the rebuilding of Deyang City People's Hospital, Luojiang County People's Hospital and Guangyuan City No.1 People's Hospital. CNOOC contributed RMB 10 million to the quake-hit area through the China Charity Federation within 24 hours after 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake. On May 17 2008, the Company donated RMB 3 million to the Dongfang ElectricCorporation Limited which had suffered great losses during the quake; this was followed by another contributionof RMB 10 million to Sichuan Provincial Department of Finance on May 19. On May 15 2008, CNOOC urgently dispatched 14 helicopters that served offshore production to fly to Sichuan andjoin the national disaster-response system. An early estimation showed that the helicopter lease expense aloneamounted to RMB 7.5 million.

CNOOC sends 14 helicopters to Sichuan Beginning on May 15, CNOOC urgently dispatched 14 helicopters that normally serving offshore production to fly to Sichuan Province and join the national disaster-response system. The helicopter is an inseparable force in offshore oilfields operation. CNOOC and its corporate agencies have contracted a total number of 27 helicopters. At this period of the year, the offshore oilfields are facing the double pressures of production targets and preparation for typhoon countermeasures. COSL donates towards the construction of an anti-quake school Immediately after the earthquake, China Oilfield Services Limited (COSL) made contact with the department in charge of education in Sichuan Province and expressed the wish to make a donation to assist the construction of an anti-quake school. Support to education in earthquake-hit area The Wenchuan earthquake made a tremendous impact on the education of the students in this area. By June 2, the Education Office of Bohai Oil Corp. had arranged for 14 students from the earthquake-hit area to take classes in the schools for its employees' children. When the children entered the new classes, the schools provided new textbooks and school uniforms; in addition their new classmates gave them various school things. CNOOC sends a medical team to Sichuan On May 29, Bohai Employees Hospital sent out one physician, one dermatologist and one pediatrician to be responsible for medical treatment in Malu Township, Qingchuan County, Sichuan Province. The medical team arrived at the hard-hit area on May 31, and immediately threw themselves into medical work on June 1. ... Blood donation to earthquake-hit area On May 16, the employees of the China Offshore Bitumen Co., Ltd made blood donations through a mobile blood collecting vehicle. ... CNOOC employees donate blood to needy people in Sichuan In addition to financial donations, CNOOC employees actively donated blood to the needy people in Sichuan Province. At 7:30 on May 16, over 100 employees of the China Offshore Bitumen Co., Ltd gathered in front of a mobile blood collecting vehicle, waiting to make blood donations. Over 50 of them met the requirements for blood type, and donated 20,000 mls of blood. Special Party Membership Dues On May 21, the Party members from CNOOC Enterprises Corporation donated to Sichuan Province. By July 11, the Party members in CNOOC had totally donated 18.54 million to earthquake relief program for Sichuan. ... On May 9, CNOOC decided to donate RMB 100 million to the quake-hit area in Sichuan Province every year in the following five years for post-disaster reconstruction. Of all CNOOC's public welfare activities, this donation to Sichuan Province is the highest amount.
