To support post-disaster reconstruction, CNOOC decided to donate RMB 100 million to the quake-hit area inSichuan every year for the following five years; the contribution would be raised by cost saving and efficiency improvement. In September, the Company delivered this year's RMB 100 million to Sichuan Youth Development Foundation, Sichuan Children and Teenagers'Fund and Sichuan Education Foundation. In 2008, CNOOC and Sichuan Government settled that the main task for the first phase was the rebuilding of Deyang City People's Hospital, Luojiang County People's Hospital and Guangyuan City No.1 People's Hospital. CNOOC contributed RMB 10 million to the quake-hit area through the China Charity Federation within 24 hours after 5.12 Wenchuan Earthquake. On May 17 2008, the Company donated RMB 3 million to the Dongfang ElectricCorporation Limited which had suffered great losses during the quake; this was followed by another contributionof RMB 10 million to Sichuan Provincial Department of Finance on May 19. On May 15 2008, CNOOC urgently dispatched 14 helicopters that served offshore production to fly to Sichuan andjoin the national disaster-response system. An early estimation showed that the helicopter lease expense aloneamounted to RMB 7.5 million. |
